• One offhand comment in the dub suggests that it is possible to get a friggin' PhD in dueling.
• How serious is Duel Monsters? Well, the only people who actually enjoy playing it are apparently people like Judai. You know, the kind that is usually really bad unless they're the protagonist. There's also sciences and mathematics entirely devoted to dueling, and a pro duelist named Eisenstein with an equation for dueling that starts E=MC... something or other.
  • And likely also named after Sergei Eisenstein.
    
• The English dub for Yu-Gi-Oh! GX lampshades this at one point. Chazz is upset because he's being upstaged by a new guy who's absurdly wealthy.
